Hearth Hill →
i’ve returned home for just a couple days, where i need to handle a week’s worth of urgent business, and repack the car for another three weeks on the road.
before my commute ends
night descends like heavy lidded eyes on the neon candy highway.

at my back, the eastern horizon slowly growing sunbright; before me, the luminous moon hangs high in the bluing sky.
like day-for-night photography gone bad
the city lights burn so bright, the 1AM sky looks blue-gray, with puffy incandescent cartoon clouds.

i finish out this week with brief and busy forays in Phily, Virginia and Maryland. Saturday night i’ll head back to Hearth Hill for a couple days.
back on terra firma in the city of brotherly love.
surfing the web on the plane, waiting to fly outta Frozenopolis. i wanna be somewhere warm!
watching people by the people-mover, stranded in Chicago for a few extra hours of my life. the panini was okay.
snow shrouds both ground and air, and softens a thousand lights.
bathed in dim fluorescence, sucking down a Peet’s drip, noshing on pain au chocolate, awaiting late turbo-bird, surfing the aether.
in the van, the long journey homeward begins, as the sun pushes through a puff of gray clouds.

i’m flying to California where i’ll be in the bay area for the next 2 1/2 weeks, staying with Robin, going to Macworld, and getting things done.

Philadelphia →
today i’m driving up to Phily, there to repack a couple of my bags. tomorrow I fly to San Francisco for 2 1/2 weeks.

for every year spent in school, life expectancy is increased 18 months. (as reported on NPR this evening.)

after a side trip to Baltimore, the new year has brought me to the DC area for assorted work. i’m staying in Arlington through Friday or Saturday. COMING UP: Monday I fly to San Francisco.
