Micro-blogging with Twitter

…is a fast and light way to stay in touch with friends. It’s just the thing for people too busy to regularly post blogs or chat on instant messenger. Since each “tweet” (micro-post) are limited to 140 characters – and can be read and written from the web, mobile phones, via instant messaging and/or a desktop computer application – it takes mere seconds out of your day, whenever you’ve got a minute to kill (e.g. waiting in line, commercial breaks, downloading a file). And that one post updates everyone who is “following” you (subscribed to your micro-blog).

I love hearing what a friend has done today, even though I’m hundreds of miles away. And I appreciate how these little posts can be like haiku. If you are a friend on Facebook, or sometimes look at my personal web site, you’ve already seen the small snippets of text I post most days using Twitter. But you can make that experience more interactive by signing up for your own free account (it takes less than a minute), then “following” me at MYKLbiz (professional) and/or MYKLiAM (personal). Then you can post your own “tweets”, and this communication becomes an exchange.

After you sign up, feel free to read my brief Getting Started With Twitter article for answers to a few common questions or concerns from first time users. Although, truly, I think you’ll find Twitter pretty darn self explanatory, and damn simple, if you just start using it.
